If it wasn’t enough for him to write one of the best and most successful films of this year (Chronicle), have numerous scripts in development around Hollywood and have played Handsome Coachman in Burke And Hare, now Max Landis is going to be directing something he’s scripted. Have fear in your hearts and hold on to your ties because Me Him Her is on the way.

Big Beach Films, which backed such films as Safety Not Guaranteed and** Little Miss Sunshine**, is funding the indie comedy, which Landis tells Variety is “Reality Bites on acid.” We’ll forgive him the cardinal sin of describing something as “X film on Y drug” this once. THIS. ONCE. And only because we’re happy to see the talented spawn get his big megaphone gig.

Landis is keeping the plot close to his chest right now, though it’ll explore three young leads going through a quarter-life crisis in Los Angeles, looking at love, sex and friendship as one of the trio struggle with their sexuality.

Things should kick off next year, though an exact shooting schedule will have to wait until Landis has space in an increasingly packed schedule. He’s busy developing a new take on Frankenstein with Paul McGuigan, has a TV pilot at Fox and is a producer on adventure movie Woogles. Not forgetting several scripts in development, including a “top secret” project for Disney. OMG MAX LANDIS IS WRITING THE NEW STAR WARS! No, he’s not. OR IS HE? No.

For evidence of his directing work to date, check out his short, The Death And Return Of Superman below. Warning: Contains Max.
