Currently best known for playing weirdo ladykiller Schmidt on New Girl, Max Greenfield has also been cropping up occasionally of late on the big screen. He’s now signed to co-star in Michael Showalter’s new comedy, **Hello My Name Is Doris.

According to Greenfield, the film follows an older woman named – as you might guess – Doris, whose mother dies and forces her to re-think her life. She decides to move to New York and starts a relationship with a younger man (Greenfield). “It's very funny, but it really kind of toes the line. It'll be different than what you're used to seeing with Michael,” Greenfield told The Wrap.

That Greenfield’s appearing in Showalter’s new solo outing isn’t too much of a surprise, since he just worked with the writer/director/actor on the Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler comedy They Came Together, which Showalter wrote with David Wain. Aside from the rom-com spoof, which should be out this year, Greenfield has a brief role in Veronica Mars and stars in friendship drama About Alex, which is showing at the Tribeca Film Festival.
