Here's a combo we're not sure we saw coming: Entourage creator Doug Ellin will work with Kingsman overseer Matthew Vaughn and football legend Thierry Henry on a show about the world of young players in the UK called Day 1's.
Ellin created the series with Chris Case, and Vaughn will produce via his Marv Films company, as well as directing the pilot. Day 1's sounds a little like Entourage meets the footie world, following young player Dezmond King and his crew as they navigate his growing stature and struggles.
"I love writing about friends who are family and this show gives us a great new platform to do that," says Ellin.
"Entourage was one of my favourite TV shows and when Doug invited me on set to film my brief cameo appearance in the movie, I never would have thought that I would be part of bringing a new TV show to life," Henry says. "I’m also incredibly excited that Matthew Vaughn has agreed to bring his vast expertise and knowledge to the series along with many more extremely talented individuals. Hopefully I can share some of my experiences as this topic is much closer to my heart."
Vaughn will have the pilot shooting next year, though the show doesn't have a broadcast or streaming home yet. Also on the director's schedule? Awaiting the release of The King's Man, which is scheduled for a February release in 2021.
