It's been a few years since we reported that Stoker and The Handmaiden director Park Chan-Wook had agreed to direct a film called The Brigands Of Rattleborge. We were getting a little worried it might not happen, but word arrives that Amazon has picked up what is now reportedly known as The Brigands Of Rattlecreek and that Matthew McConaughey is being courted to star.

Bone Tomahawk and Brawl In Cell Block 99's S. Craig Zahler wrote the script, which follows a group of bandits who use a torrential thunderstorm as the ideal cover to rob a small town. What they don’t count on is a local doctor deciding to take revenge on the thieves. Nobody's plan goes smoothly and much blood is spilt.

McConaughey's the top choice to play the doctor, who must team up with the town's sheriff to ride off on his vengeful mission, but it remains to be seen whether he actually locks in a deal to star. The actor will next be seen in The Beach Bum (out 29 March in the US, but without a UK date as yet) and Guy Ritchie's new crime caper Bush, due next year.
