Since leaving Doctor Who, Matt Smith has been busy adding film roles to his CV, including one in Ryan Gosling’s Lost River and a mysterious part in spellcheck nightmare Terminator: Genisys. He’s travelling back in time – something in which he’s fairly well versed – for his next gig, playing Mr. Collins in **Pride And Prejudice And Zombies{
The genre mash film, drawn from Seth Grahame-Smith’s book injecting zombie madness into Jane Austen’s social comedy, has been casting up quickly of late. Lily James is our heroine, Elizabeth Bennett, who juggles family expectations and a burgeoning, unexpected romance with Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley) along with what she sees as a more pressing need to combat the lurking “sorry stricken,” AKA zombies.
Smith’s Collins is, largely, in keeping with the original, a parson on the hunt for a wife who proposes to Elizabeth. Jack Huston, Douglas Booth and Bella Heathcote are also all aboard the film. Burr Steers, who has also worked on the script, will start shooting next week.
As for Smith, there’s no sign of a UK date for **L****ost River **yet, but we can expect Terminator: Genisys on June 26 next year.
