With Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass back for more Bourne, the world naturally wants to know what might be happening to the central hero. While Damon – currently out promoting The Martian – isn’t giving too much up, he did drop some hints about the film’s tone, theme and locations.

Greengrass and Damon have worked on the script for this one with Christopher Rouse, and the actor offered up a couple of nuggets about it to BuzzFeed. “We always looked at those movies as really about the Bush presidency, and so we kind of had to wait for the world to change. What does the character have to say?”

This time? It appears the biggest impacts are the financial situations in Europe and a certain whistleblower. “Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Edward Snowden world,” Damon says. “It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.”

To help push that along, the film, which kicks off production soon, will shoot in various international locations. “We’re starting in Greece, you know, the beginning of democracy,” Damon shares. “And the movie ends in Las Vegas, the most grotesque incarnation of….” Don’t hold back!

With Julia Stiles back on duty, the film this time adds Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones. Whatever it ends up being called (The Bourne Insolvency, given where it ends up?), the movie should be out on July 29 next year.
