Having worked with Steven Soderbergh eight times now, it's not tough to imagine that if the filmmaker calls, Matt Damon is willing to hop on a flight and appear in something for him, even if it's just a cameo. Such is the case with Soderbergh's latest, No Sudden Move.
The director is making the film for the HBO Max service, with a script by Bill & Ted veteran Ed Solomon. Set in 1955 Detroit it focuses on a group of small-time criminals who are hired to steal what they think is a simple document. When their plan goes horribly wrong, their search for who hired them – and for what ultimate purpose – weaves them through all echelons of the race-torn, rapidly changing city. Damon will apparently just work for two days on the film.
Soderbergh has a big ensemble for this one, with Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, David Harbour, Amy Seimetz, Jon Hamm, Ray Liotta, Kieran Culkin, Brendan Fraser, Noah Jupe, Bill Duke and Julia Fox all aboard. Damon, meanwhile, just finished work on Ridley Scott's The Last Duel.
