There's a brand new issue of Empire on the shelves right now – and in the front section, we've got an exclusive new look from Downsizing, the new sci-fi comedy-drama from indie directing hero Alexander Payne. Take a look.
Here, Matt Damon plays a character who shrinks down to nine inches after revolutionary shrinking technology aims to solve the problem of resources. As he tells Empire, for the first time in his storied career, Payne found himself working on a movie that required visual-effects shots — 650, to be precise — as he depicted the contrast between worlds big and small. “It was fun and tedious,” he says. “I’m in my mid-fifties and learning a new bag of tricks. I’m eager to do another visual-effects movie, and I’m eager to do no movie again with visual effects.”
