More often found playing a charming con man that helps the FBI out on US telly drama White Collar, Matt Bomer is using the end of the series to drum up more film work. He’s now locked down a nastier criminal role opposite Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in Shane Black’s **The Nice Guys.
Exactly how Bomer’s character will fit into the plot remains to be seen, but we do know some of the details of the new film. Black co-wrote the script with Anthony Bagarozzi, and the story is set in the 1970s. Gosling will be wayward, troubled private eye Holland March, who crosses paths with hired muscle Jackson Healy (Crowe). These unlikely allies must prowl the mean streets of Los Angeles to solve the case of a missing girl, which soon develops links to the death of a porn star. As they unravel the cases, they discover a massive conspiracy with tentacles in the highest levels of power.
Margaret Qualley, who was recently seen in HBO drama The Leftovers, is the daughter of a corrupt chief justice, and who just so happens to be the spitting image of a porn star named Misty Mountains. Black is aiming at a June 17, 2016 release date.
Bomer, who is about to start work on Magic Mike sequel **Magic Mike XXL, is also attached to play Montgomery Clift in Monty Clift and has been lending his voice to DreamWorks’ ghost ‘toon B.O.O.: Bureau Of Otherworldly Operations.
