The casting for the fourth Matrix movie is gathering pace. Just yesterday, news broke that Frozen II's Jonathan Groff would be in the film playing a mystery character and now co-writer/director Lana Wachowski is recruiting one of the Sense8 ensemble to join the film, with Toby Onwumere scoring an unspecified role.
Of course, we'd expect all the new arrivals to be a mystery for now, though we do know that Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith are all back as Neo, Trinity and Niobe for the new one. Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Groff and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are all joining them, with Abdul-Mateen the focus of rumours that he's playing a younger version of Laurence Fishburne's Morpheus.
All eyes will be on what Wachowski and her co-writers (David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon) bring to a series of films that has been praised for its ground-breaking visuals and action but criticised for some pacing and plotting issues, especially in terms of the sequels.
The new movie should be filming next year.
