Where next for the director of American Psycho, I Shot Andy Warhol and The Notorious Betty Page? Why, a post-Twilight teen fantasy of course! Early reports had Kimberley Peirce at the helm, but Deadline are now saying that Mary Harron will be directing Universal's **Wicked Lovely.

If they've passed you by so far, Melissa Marr's novels involve the young Aislinn, who's been warned her whole life by her grandmother to steer clear of the bad faeries all around. That becomes problematic however, when she's propositioned by the Auberonic Keenan, the Summer King, who needs Aislinn's help to defeat his mother, the Winter Queen, who for reasons best known to herself, wants to destroy everything.

No Tinkerbells here; these are faeries of a darker hue, which perhaps explains the attraction for Harron. Plus, there's the script from Edward Scissorhands and Corpse Bride writer Caroline Thompson. And a nice paycheque from a big studio for a franchise-worthy gig (Marr has written five Wicked Lovelies to date) can't be hurting.

Vince Vaughn's Wild West Picture Show production company is behind the project, and Harron will presumably get cracking on Wicked Lovely once she finishes with Lily Cole / Scott Speedman-starring The Moth Diaries.
