The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

Marvel's big Comic-Con panels are usually all about the movies, but with the studio's Disney+ TV series now a key part of the MCU (more than the likes of the Defenders could ever have hoped to be), news about the various shows were rolled into the Hall H presentation, as they'll all be key parts of Phase 4.

Probably the biggest of the lot so far – and first to arrive on the schedule, with a date set for Autumn, 2020 – is The Falcon And The Winter Soldier. Starring Anthony Mackie (who has revealed that he's already had his first fitting for the Captain America suit now he's taking over from Chris Evans) and Sebastian Stan, the show will see the pair on solo adventures. "We're living our dream, Mackie says. "When we go to work, we have a REALLY good time." Daniel Brühl's Baron Zemo will be back, and he'll have a mask.

Spring 2021 will see WandaVision arrive, featuring Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda "Scarlet Witch" Maximoff and Paul "Vision" Bettany. It takes place after the events of Endgame, so it'll be interesting to see how they bring Vision back. Alternate reality? Could be, especially since Olsen's character will also crop up in Doctor Strange sequel In The Multiverse Of Madness. Also appearing? A grown up version of Captain Marvel's Monica Rambeau, here played by Teyonah Parris. “We’re going to have a lot of fun,” Olsen said. “It’s going to get weird. We’re going to go deep, we’re going to have lots of surprises, and we’re going to finally understand Wanda Maximoff as the Scarlet Witch.”

“Last thing I knew, I died in Infinity War, so I literally have never been this confused in front of this many people in my whole life,” Bettany chimed in.

Also heading to screens in spring 2021 is Loki, which finds Tom Hiddleston's troublemaker back to his old ways – literally, because it'll pick up the version of the character we saw vanishing into a time portal in Avengers: Endgame. "You guys saw Avengers right?" Hiddleston joked to the crowd. "So he’s still that guy. And just about the last thing that happened to him was he got Hulk-smashed. So there’s a lot of psychological evolution that is still yet to happen. Kevin [Feige] has generally shown me what his plans are. I can’t tell you any of them, but it is one of the most exciting creative opportunities I think I’ve ever come across. This is new territory, a new world, new challenges, and I cannot wait to get started."

"The question I got asked more than any other question in Endgame was where did Loki go, what happened to Loki?" Feige said. "This series will answer where he went."

What If logo

Summer 2021 heralds Marvel Studios' first animated series, What If..?, which features a truckload of talent from across the MCU for a set of tales that explore possible stories. Jeffrey Wright is playing The Watcher, while the likes of Michael B. Jordan, Sebastian Stan, Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Hayley Atwell, Chadwick Boseman, Karen Gillan, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Neal McDonagh, Dominic Cooper, Sean Gunn, Natalie Portman, David Dastmalchian, Stanley Tucci, Taika Waititi, Toby Jones, Djimon Hounsou, Jeff Goldblum, Michael Rooker and Chris Sullivan are all confirmed for the cast. So far...

Talking of Jeremy Renner, he was present to help introduce Disney+ series Hawkeye, due on the service in autumn 2021 and introducing the character of Kate Bishop. She's a character from the comics and Clint will train her to be a superhero without powers. Nothing more was revealed about the show, which makes sense since it won't be out until autumn 2021.
