We know you're all about The Defenders, but there's a matter of Marvel's Iron Fist that has to be dealt with first. Fourth of the Netflix-produced series following Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, Iron Fist, debuting 17th March, has gotten a new trailer in advance of its debut.

Continuing the exploration of Marvel's grittier side, the series stars Finn Jones in the title role and alter ego Danny Rand. The set up has Rand returning to New York City a decade and a half after his mysterious disappearance. Now he wants to assume his place at the head of his family's company — which unsurprisingly doesn't go over so well with the board of directors. Various other factions raise their heads, which Danny will undoubtedly take off with the power of the "Iron Fist" that he has mastered while being raised by monks in a secluded monastary. It's a safe assumption that martial arts mayhem in the Marvel style will ensue.

Executive producer/showrunner Scott Buck spoke to Empire last year, noting, "Our starting point was completely approaching this through character: 'Who is Danny Rand?' That's actually what a lot of what his journey is, because he is a man who's torn between two different worlds. He's a younger character than some of the other Marvel heroes, so he's still trying to find his place in this world, and figure out who he is as Danny Rand, and who he is as Iron Fist."

Marvel TV head honcho Jeph Loeb added that Buck's background, which includes the serial killer drama Dexter, made him a perfect fit for this series. "Dexter," he said, "is a show that has a very grounded reality to it, but has at its core someone who, theoretically, is mentally unbalanced. Or has a very unusual way of looking at the world that makes him both an insider and an outsider. That was really important to us in terms of being able to understand who Danny Rand is."
