It had begun to feel like we were never getting news about the MCU-allied Hawkeye series that has Jeremy Rennerback as sharp-eyed (and sharp-shooting) Clint Barton. But far from being lost in development hell, the series has now started rounding up directors, with Amber Finlayson, Katie Ellwood and Rhys Thomas as the first group hired.

The series will see Clint mentoring a new, younger archer, Kate Bishop. That role had been linked to Hailee Steinfeld, but The Hollywood Reporter had no information on whether she has actually signed up. Jonathan Igla, a veteran of Mad Men, is writing the show.

Finlayson and Katie Ellwood are collectively known as Bert and Bertie, and most recently directed Troop Zero for Amazon. Thomas, meanwhile, has shot the likes of Comrade Detective, and John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch.

Hawkeye is amongst the first wave of Disney+/Marvel series that are on the way, including The Falcon And The Winter Soldier (which was to have been first out of the gate, but has been delayed after the pandemic affected its shoot), WandaVision and Loki.
