Spider-Man has spent years in the superhero wilderness, with just his own line of characters to interact with. But thanks to Sony and Marvel hatching a deal to share the rights, he's been able to show up in Captain America: Civil War. And, according to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Marvel Cinematic Universe characters will return the favour.

So you can expect to see a few familiar faces when "Underoos" graces the screen for his latest stand-alone adventure next year. Who could that be? Feige isn't saying, but we're wondering if Civil War might offer some clues. Could Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark pop in to help Peter Parker (http://www.empireonline.com/people/tom-holland) upgrade his gear? We'll have to wait and see.

The new Spidey outing, which has Jon Watts in the director's chair and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, will not be another take on the title character's origin story. Instead, as with his appearance in the MCU, Peter Parker will be up and web-slinging as Spider-Man, but still young enough to be dealing with high school issues.

Civil War will be out on April 29 here before hitting the States on May 6, and here's all you need to know. The next Spider-film is scheduled for July 7, 2017.
