In the States, at least, Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. is currently on its mid-season break, allowing Agent Carter to take the spotlight. But when it returns, the present-day series will dive into characters and scenarios from the Secret Warriors comic book stories. One of the new faces will be played by McFarland actress Natalia Cordova-Buckley.

She's been recruited to play Elena Rodriguez, described as a tough and street-wise Colombian who is given Inhuman abilities. She'll be based on the character known as Slingshot. Introduced in the Mighty Avengers comics in 2008, Yo-Yo Rodriguez, as she's known on paper, develops super-speed abilities thanks to mutated DNA from her father.

“We announced at San Diego Comic-Con that the Secret Warriors story will be coming to Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and we’re pleased to say that will continue to play out in the second half of our season,” says executive producer and Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb. “Natalia embodies both the toughness and the warmth necessary for the role of Elena as we bring another piece of the team to the screen for the first time.”

Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be back on Stateside screens on March 8. It continues to air on E4 over here.
