Though he’s usually found making people laugh in comedies on film and TV, Ken Marino can be a physically imposing guy. Marvel is looking to put that to good use, with Marino playing a mob boss on season two of Agent Carter.

The character is torn from the pages of the comic books, where he’s usually found as Daredevil villain Blackwing, the son of a crime lord who trained bats to become living weapons. There won’t be much in the way of bat madness in Agent Carter, as he’s gone through the usual shift in backstory for the TV series (though we’d be shocked if there wasn’t some subtle nod to his origin in the show). On the series, he’ll be the boss of the mob syndicate Maggia who helps Peggy Carter’s (Haley Atwell) enemies.

“We've loved working with Ken ever since he played a gay ex-demon for us on Reaper, and we were so happy he was available for this role,” Executive Producers Tara Butters, Chris Dingess, and Michele Fazekas announced on Marvel’s site. “His range is incredible – he can go from comedy to romance to drama with ease.Writing for him is easy, because he can do pretty much anything. And he used to have a karaoke room in his house, which makes him even more awesome.” With luck, he’ll bring a little charm to the role and provide a memorable villain.

Season two finds Peggy relocating to Los Angeles while keeping up the fight against threats old and new. Atwell is naturally back alongside show regulars James D’Arcy, Chad Michael Murray, Dominic Cooper Enver Gjokaj and Bridget Reagan with the cast expanding to include Kurtwood Smith, Wynn Everett, Reggie Austin, Currie Graham, Lotte Verbeek and Lesley Boone. It’ll be on screens next year.
