Former telly president Martin Sheen doesn’t often do straight horror, so when he does, we assume it has something particularly appealing about it. He’s now set to star in** Troll Hunter **director Andre Øvredal’s latest, **The Autopsy Of Jane Doe{ =nofollow}.

With Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing providing the script, the film will find Sheen as Tommy, a small-town mortician who receives the body of a mysterious murder victim, a beautiful young woman. The fact that she’s unidentified is just the first puzzling thing. There’s also the fact that her body shows no apparent cause of death...

Øvredal is scheduled to start shooting this summer in London and is holding auditions to find other cast members. But he’s clearly thrilled to have landed Sheen. “Being a lifelong fan of Martin Sheen, I am honoured and thrilled to get the opportunity to work with him," he told Screen International. "He also perfectly embodies everything I want his character in the movie to be, so this is a dream come true for me. I intend to make The Autopsy Of Jane Doe a movie that will thrill, scare and delight the widest possible audience.”

The film’s rights will be offered for sale at this year’s European Film Market, but the combination of the **Troll Hunter **director with Sheen the elder already has our attention.
