Start the countdown, Scorsese stans – we have an official release date confirmed, at last, for Marty’s latest cinematic epic, Killers Of The Flower Moon. His first film since 2019 mobster elegy The Irishman has been much anticipated for multiple reasons – for one, it’s a new Scorsese film, which is always something to eagerly await. For two, it finally unites his two screen muses, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, in one film. Oh, and it’ll continue the Brendan Fra-naissance to boot. So, stick it down in your calendars, people – it’s officially hitting our screens in October.

While the movie is an Apple Studios production, it won’t be heading straight to Apple TV+. First, it’s going to cinemas courtesy of Paramount, with a limited release on 6 October followed by a wider release on 20 October. Beyond that (and on an unspecified date), it’s come to Apple’s streaming service. Killers Of The Flower Moon is based on David Grann’s non-fiction book of the same name, and, per its official synopsis, “is set in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror”. Beyond DiCaprio and De Niro, it stars Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion and Tantoo Cardinal.

Not only is the film being released in a prime awards-friendly window, it’s also sure to be a major player on the festival scene too. It’s already confirmed to have its world premiere at Cannes this May – fingers crossed it’s also picked up for this year’s London Film Festival…
