Though it has yet to be officially announced outside of a reference by Marvel boss Kevin Feige at the end of the company's San Diego Comic-Con panel next month, we know that Ryan Coogler is at work developing the much-anticipated sequel to 2018's hit Black Panther. And according to actor Martin Freeman, we can expect to see Everett K. Ross return.
"As far as I know, I will be returning," Freeman told Collider. “As far as I know, I will be in another Black Panther. That’s my understanding. As to when that will happen, I don’t know." That's far from definite, but given how strict the MCU's team tends to be about letting anyone reveal anything, we'll take it.
Ross, of course, is the slightly officious but ultimately helpful CIA operative we first met when he was working with the Joint Counter Terrorist Center in Captain America: Civil War. He popped back up in a bigger role for Black Panther, was injured in the line of duty and saved by Shuri (Letitia Wright). Ross then helped T'challa (Chadwick Boseman) and his forces battle Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan).
Whatever he'll be up to in the Black Panther sequel, it'll just be good to see him. But we wouldn't expect the new movie to arrive much before 2022, given the current packed Phase 4 sequel.
