And so the wheel turns again. The film adaptation of Sony's Uncharted game has been in the works for so long now that Mark Wahlberg, who was once attached as central character Nathan Drake, is now joining the film to play a mentor figure to current star Tom Holland.

Bumblebee's Travis Knight is in the director's chair for the film, which in its current incarnation will follow the younger days of treasure hunter Nathan Drake, who journeys around the world to investigate historical mysteries.

Wahlberg's playing Victor "Sully" Sullivan, a fellow fortune seeker and businessman who serves as a mentor figure to Drake. Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins are the current credited writers for this one, which draws from the popular game series that launched in 2007. The movie version has been in development – with directors, writers and actors jumping aboard, then departing as the project tumbled through studio limbo. Now we'll see if the film will finally make it to screens. Chart – pun entirely intended – the history of the movie here.
