After years of false starts, potential stars and frustrating studio shuffling, thriller Triple Frontier might actually, finally be headed into production. The latest actors now on board to star include Mark Wahlberg, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund and Pedro Pascal.
J.C. Chandor remains attached to direct the film, originally written and developed by Mark Boal and Kathryn Bigelow, who had a variety of big names circling the idea when they were still actively involved around 2010. More recently, the likes of Channing Tatum, Tom Hardy, Ben Affleck and Mahershala Ali have been associated with the movie, but it never quite came together.
Now Wahlberg and the rest, along with Adria Ajorna, are all making deals to star, with Netflix providing the financing and the distribution platform after Paramount pulled out over the budget. Chandler has re-written Boal's script for the movie, which is set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, the film will chronicle the difficult efforts to combat organised crime in the area where the Iguazu and Parana rivers converge.
All being well, the cameras should finally be rolling in Hawaii and Colombia starting next month.
