Mark Strong In Kathryn Bigelow's Latest?

The cast of Kathryn Bigelow’s new thriller – which is still working titled Kill Bin Laden – looks like it’ll be growing soon, with Mark Strong, Jessica Chastain and Edgar Ramirez all considering roles.

Bigelow’s follow-up to The Hurt Locker tracks the efforts of Navy SEAL Team Six to find and eliminate the Al Qaeda leader. While Mark Boal began writing it when Bin Laden was alive and kicking, it’s since been changed to reflect his death at the hands of the real-life SEALs.

Joel Edgerton, Jason Clarke and Chris Pratt are already all aboard and the newcomers would make for an even more solid ensemble. Chastain in particular has seen her career take off, having appeared in seemingly half of last year’s big US releases (all right, not quite that many – but enough). Her possible involvement in the Bin Laden film apparently throws a chance she’ll also make sci-fi pic Oblivion with Tom Cruise into some doubt, so you can bet there will be some diary juggling if she negotiates a deal for Bigelow. Empire favourite (and Videblogisode recurring guest floating head) Strong should be an easier fit.

There’s some controversy floating around Bigelow’s film, with continuing investigations into whether the director and her creative team were given information about the real-life mission from President Obama’s administration. That one will run and run…
