Last year, Mark Millar announced that he'd struck a deal to craft his own comicbook universe for Netflix, drawing from his Millarworld content. We now know some of the titles that will be emerging from that partnership, including a TV series based on Jupiter's Legacy and three movies.

Legacy, which had been in development as a film, will now be a series run by Spartacus and Daredevil veteran Steven S. DeKnight, who most recently made Pacific Rim Uprising for the big screen. It's the multi-generational story of superheroes and their powered children, who struggle to live up to the legacy of their parents' heroic actions.

American Jesus, meanwhile, adapts Millar and illustrator Peter Gross' title, which sees a 12-year-old boy discovering he's Jesus reborn. He can turn water into wine, make the crippled walk, and, oh yes, has a destiny to lead the world in a battle against evil... Everado Gout and Leopoldo Gout are the producers for the show, which will be shot in English and Spanish.

Film-wise, the titles include Empress (itself previously in development), which sees a woman married to a galactic dictator who escapes from his palace with their children and must find somewhere to hide. Chaos Walking's Lindsey Beer is on script duty, with Joe Roth on to produce. Then there's Huck, which sees a small seaside town erupting into chaos when a super-powered individual's daily good deeds and true nature are revealed by a newcomer. Hidden Figures' Ted Melfi will write the adaptation.

Finally, there's Sharkey The Bounty Hunter, a blue-collar type who tracks criminals across the galaxy in a rocket-powered ice cream truck (oh, that old story!) Scott Pilgrim's Michael Bacall is crafting the adaptation, and the title will also be published as part of the Millarworld/Netflix comics run next year.

"My wife Lucy and I are 11 months into our jobs at Netflix and it’s everything we hoped for to the power of ten,” Millar says in a statement. "To see a movie based on your work every couple of years is incredibly exciting, but to see them all happening at once like this and with talent this high-end is just off the scale.”

"These are writers and directors I’ve privately been sending fan-mail to over the last eighteen months so to be working with them all is just enormously exciting,” he adds. "This really is the greatest creative environment I’ve ever worked in. I can’t wait to switch on my computer every morning."
