We don’t want to worry anyone, but Mariah Carey is aiming at a return to film.
Enjoying her recent musical comeback, the star of Glitter is planning to headline an indie drama called Tennessee. She’ll play a waitress who sets off with her brothers to find their estranged father. They need his help to save their younger brother from Leukaemia.
Aaron Woodley is directing and Russell Schaumberg is writing the script. Producer Lee Daniels explained his choice of lead to Variety: “I never saw Glitter, but I liked her work in WiseGirls. Because this character is interracial and struggles with all sorts of issues because of that, I thought she was perfect.” He didn’t see Glitter, which might explain why he spoke normally and wasn’t screaming and clawing at his bloody, ruined eyes.
