Maria Bello Investigating Murder

It would appear that the brief time that Maria Bello spent as the lead in the US telly version of Prime Suspect made an impact, because she’s now investigating several murders. Admittedly, it’s not on her spare time: it’s for a new, untitled thriller that Insidious director James Wan will produce for Dimension Films.

Though the Saw man is overseeing the project, his scheduled is filled with finishing off his latest horror The Conjuring and, as we brought word yesterday, negotiating to take on the film version of MacGyver.

So Will Canon is the man calling the shots, which will find a detective teaming up with Bello’s police psychologist to investigate the massacre of five college kids in a rundown house.

The only survivor – and the police’s main suspect – insists that he’s not guilty. Instead, he claims that the group were on a ghost hunt and that the house and its lurking terrors were to blame. Same old story: it's always the house's fault.

If all goes to plan, Canon will kick off directing the new pic this coming January in Baton Rouge.

Bello, who recently joined the cast of Prisoners, is next scheduled to hit our screens in Adam Sandler’s latest, Grown Ups 2.
