We got our first proper look at the new Tarzan (in the sculpted shape of Alexander Skarsgard) and Jane (Margot Robbie, promising a different take on the heroine) in the teaser trailer for The Legend Of Tarzan. Now here comes the full trailer, loaded with more spectacle and an extra dash of backstory.
Yes, it looks like we'll get more of the vine-swinging main man's tragic past, with the death of his family and how he was raised by apes, then met Jane and became a gentleman named John Clayton in London.
But Tarzan wouldn't exactly be Tarzan if all he did was host fancy parties and wonder whether he should build that gazebo in the garden, and soon he's summoned back to the Congo, ostensibly to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament. Unknowingly, he and his wife are also pawns of a deadly plan for revenge on the part of Belgian Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz). But when he kidnaps Jane so he can manipulate her husband, Rom doesn't realise the power he has unleashed...
With Samuel L. Jackson, Jim Broadbent and Djimon Hounsou also in the cast and David Yates directing, The Legend Of Tarzan will be in UK cinemas on July 8.
