Following the successful Ocean's franchise, Warners tried to extend its bet on the idea with Ocean's 8, starring Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. The studio is now going in a surprising direction for another entry, with Margot Robbie and director Jay Roach developing another movie, with a whole new spin.

Well, technically it's an old spin - as Steven Soderbergh's 2001 original Ocean's Eleven drew from the 1960 film starring Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack pal — so Robbie and Roach have writer Carrie Solomon working on a script set in Europe in the 1960s.

Right now, it's still in development, as Warners has yet to give the official thumbs up, but the aim is to have this one shooting next year (likely figuring out a schedule that doesn't clash with Robbie's Barbie promotional tour).

Robbie and Roach previously worked together on 2019's Bombshell, for which the former scored an Oscar nomination, so you can see why they might want to team up again. If the whole plan comes together, expect the casting process to go like this...

Barbie, meanwhile, will be out on 21 July next year.
