Well, this is going to make a lot of people unhappy. ShockTillYouDrop.com is reporting that Marcus Nispel, who directed the re-makes of Pathfinder and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is to helm a re-do of Friday The 13th, written by Freddy Vs Jason scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.

Now, let's not get our torches and pitchforks out just yet. Nispel's take on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was one of the better horror remakes that we've seen. It didn't come anywhere near touching the original, but it was an enjoyably scary time in its own right. Plus, Friday The 13th is not quite such a horror classic in the way that Chain Saw and Halloween are. We generally remember it among those better films because of the hockey-masked character it created – who didn't even appear in the form that we know him until the third film – than any genuine frightening brilliance. So maybe it's actually ripe for re-make? What do you think?
