Marc Finding Neverland Forster continues to line up projects like clay pigeons. With the Ewan Mc Gregor-starring Stay still awaiting release, and Stranger Than Fiction, with Will Ferrell, just wrapped, he's lined up a remake of French thriller 36 Quai des Orfevres, to be titled simply 36.

The original film was a French hit and was nominated for eight Césars last year. It starred Daniel Auteuil and Gerard Depardieu as cops competing for a promotion. The two former friends now work for different departments, and are determined to catch a gang of violent robbers in order to get the job they're after.

The title of the French film refers to police headquarters in Paris, the equivalent of Scotland Yard in London. The title of the American remake is bound to be written into the script somewhere, but don't be surprised if it changes to something more thriller-y before it comes out. The setting will be "a major US city".

The French film, thanks to the presence of two giants of French acting, drew comparisons to Heat, which is why it's interesting that Robert De Niro is one of the producers of this remake. His Tribeca films will work with Penn Station productions, the production company of the remake's scriptwriter Dean Georgaris. We'll keep you up to date as we learn more.
