Here at Empire, we've been sleeping with the lights on ever since we first saw Ju-On: The Grudge. And now, after sequels and remakes galore, Japanese director Takashi Shimizu is preparing to scare the pants off us all over again, with an adaptation of Japanese comic series Parasyte. The books are a sci-fi series by Hatosi Iwaaki, and tell the story of an Earth under attack from alien spores. These spores take over human bodies, with the aim of taking over the entire planet! Eeek! Luckily, one young man manages to isolate the spore that lands on him, leaving him part human and part alien. His left arm essentially becomes an independent alien entity with a mind of its own, and together he and 'Lefty' may prove the best chance to stop the aliens that threaten all native life on Earth. The plan is to use both CG and live-action to create realistic looking alien landscapes on Earth, proving that the spores don't just target homo sapiens. The whole thing sounds rather intriguing to us
