Of all the announcements at Friday's Disney+ panel at the D23 Expo event, the capper, and one of the biggest reactions was to Jon Favreau's new live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian. And now the first trailer for the series has hit the web.

Favreau and one of his co-executive producers, Dave "Clone Wars" Filoni, arrived on stage to pimp the new series, which takes place after Return Of The Jedi and is set in a lawless corner of the galaxy far, far away as government has collapsed and hired gunslingers/bounty hunters like the title character are even more free to ply their trade.

Favreau also had some of his cast on stage, including Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Gina Carano (Cara Dune), Carl Weathers (Greef), Giancarlo Esposito and Taika Waititi, who pulls double duty as one of the series' directors and a performer, helping bring droid IG-11 to lethal life.

Thanks to the Disney Legends award ceremony earlier in the day, we also learned that Agents Of SHIELD's Ming-Na Wen appears in the show, but not what her character is called.

And that wasn't the end of the Star Wars news. Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy had Ewan McGregor stride on stage to confirm that the Obi-Wan Kenobi (hello there!) series is a reality and kicks off filming next year. Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk shared some banter to promoted the still-untitled series that will follow the pre-Rogue One days of Cassian Andor and faithful/sarcastic droid K-2SO. Finally, there was also word that the new season of Clone Wars will kick off on Disney+ in February next year.

Disney+ has yet to confirm a specific launch date for the UK, but is expected in 2020.
