The Mandalorian has been one of the clear successes for Disney Plus, and it was not at all shocking to learn that it had been commissioned for a second season, with co-creator Jon Favreau revealing that it had already been shooting. But now, months before those episodes are due to air, word arrives via Variety that early work has started on Season 3.
The trade mag's sources have confirmed that Favreau has been busy on scripts for a while now, and that Lucasfilm vice president and executive creative director Doug Chiang has similarly been working with the art department to create concepts for the third season.
Season 2 wrapped shooting in March, thankfully just before restrictions on gatherings and work started to hit amidst the Coronavirus chaos. It should hit screens later this year, though when Season 3 will shoot is anyone's guess right now. Still, the second season promises the joy of seeing Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano(though no one is officially admitting that yet).
