Here in the UK, we’re yet to see the first season of Disney+’s flagship Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian, due to the fact that the Mouse House’s streaming service hasn’t even launched here yet. But we do know when we’ll see the second run: according to Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger, it’s due to begin in October – a pretty swift turnaround for such a high-profile, high production value show. The update came out of last night’s Disney earnings call – with Iger claiming that “the next few years” of Star Wars looks set to remain on the small screen.
The release window for The Mandalorian wasn’t the only update on the call – the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe shows were also addressed. The latest info has it that The Falcon And The Winter Soldier will arrive in August, just a few months after Black Widow hits the big screen in early May. And following the news that WandaVision had moved up from 2021 to a 2020 release date, it sounds like the Scarlet Witch and Vision series will be coming in December.
By the time all of this comes around, us UK viewers will finally have access to Disney+, which launches here on 24 March – bringing the combined catalogues of Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and more with it. Stay tuned, when we can finally find out what Baby Yoda is all about.
