It would seem that both sides of the **Man From U.N.C.L.E. **universe will be really really ridiculously good-looking, given that Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill are already cast as the heroes and now the villain of the piecehas been cast in the chiselled shape of Italian actor Luca Calvani.
Guy Ritchie is busy calling the shots for the film adaptation of the cult spy series, which will see Hammer and Cavill play Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, agents of the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement. It's a secretive spy unit dedicated, as the name might suggest, to upholding all that’s good and true, though that may be given a twist since we live in an era where distrust of government and covert organisations is at an all-time high.
When In Rome’s Calvani, however, will be an unrepentant wrong ‘un whose father was a wealthy Italian shipping heir who smuggled Nazi gold at end of World War II. The rotten apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree, and his son is behind the sale of nuclear weapons. Whether he’ll be linked to U.N.C.L.E.’s traditional enemies at THRUSH remains to be seen, but still: boo! Hiss! Etc!
Jared Harris, Hugh Grant, Alicia Vikander and Elizabeth Debicki are also all aboard the film, which will take in shooting in the UK, Rome and Naples.
