Now that the Superman/Batman movie has been announced, and the Earth's population has had a few days to deal with the World's Finest finally coming together on cinema screens, many questions remain. "What are they going to call this thing?" is one, and Man Of Steel 2 won't cut it, it's up to the original film's writer, David S. Goyer, to make a few suggestions.
Speaking at the Superman 75th Anniversary panel at Comic-Con, Goyer had this to say: “So over in Hall H at the end of the Warner Bros. panel, Zack [Snyder] came out and brought Harry Lennix, who plays General Swanwick in Man of Steel, and Harry read a bit from [seminal graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns] and so the next film we’re making – we’re already in pre-production – comes out in summer of 2015 and it’s... we’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it’s that rematch, that combination, the two guys on-screen and that’s happening.”
This actually answers two questions. First of all, yes, The Dark Knight and The Big Blue Boy Scout will battle it out, and from the sound of things, that'll be the main thrust of the feature, considering the titles suggested. Secondly, there won't be a Man Of Steel tie-in, title-wise, with Warners (at the moment) content with the power of their knock-out superheroes' names.
Of course, as All You Need Is Kill Edge Of Tomorrow recently showed, nothing's ever set in stone when it comes to movie titles, leaving Bat-fans and Supes-aficionados wondering what else Team DC could go for come summer 2015.
