A simple tale about a mammoth, a sloth and a sabre-toothed tiger has stormed into the US box office No 1 slot, taking a massive $47.9 million this weekend. Ice Age - the first computer animated feature from 20th Century Fox now has the second highest opening of all time, second only to Disney/Pixar's Monster, Inc (which made $62.6 million). It's a massive success for Fox and not only in the box office stakes. The studio had spent a fortune revamping its ailing animation section - previously responsible for more traditional animated features such as Anastasia and last year's feature flop, Titan.AE.
