While the majority of the cast is present and correct for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the follow-up to the 2008 musical-based smash hit, the theories are swirling about the relative lack of Meryl Streep's Donna, at least in the present-day stories, with some wondering if she's dead as the story starts. Take a look at the new trailer and decide for yourself.

This new movie, written and directed by Ol Parker, has Amanda Seyfried's Sophie discovering that she's pregnant. The news causes her to want to explore her mother's past, and so we also get flashbacks to a young Donna (Lily James subs in for Streep) meeting the younger versions of Stellan Skarsgård's Bill, Colin Firth's Harry and Pierce Brosnan's Sam (their 1979 incarnations are played by Josh Dylan, Hugh Skinner and Jeremy Irvine).

Expect a lot of Abba music again, including tracks from the show that didn't make it into the first film, and an appearance from Cher. Oh, and a line that sounds as if it was stolen from Sports Night{ =nofollow}. Aaron Sorkin'll be on the phone demanding his cut.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again will be out on 27 July.
