Spell-check nemesis Liev Schreiber – or Live Schrieber, as Word insists on having it – is going to be a very busy man over the coming months. Soon, he starts work on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where he will play Hugh Jackman’s tormentor, William Stryker. But before that, Liev will be heading up to Toronto to start work on the blackly comic action thriller, Repossession Mambo.

The sci-fi flick, starring Jude Law as a repo man specialising in reclaiming artificial organs who goes on the run after he half-inches his own replacement part, has been shooting for a couple of weeks now, but Schreiber is a late and very worthy addition to the cast.

He’ll play Law’s boss at the credit union, and we’d bet you everything from a diddle-eyed Joe to a damned if I know that he turns out to be a bad ’un. Yes, Schreiber has played good guys in the past, but he’s also too big and too good at being menacing for his villainous potential not to be unleashed.

Forest Whitaker, Carice Van Houten and Alice Braga also star in the movie, which is directed by Miguel Sapochnik and scheduled for release in 2009. Repossession Mambo seems like one of the quirkier big-budget efforts currently in production, and so we'll definitely keep an eye on things.
