Bristol Bay Productions’ magician drama The Great Buck Howard was happily getting in gear with Kevin Kline, Tom Hanks and son Colin in a father-son drama about a dad who disapproves of his sprog’s choice of mentor.
Kevin Kline had been sent to play Buck, the once-great magic man suffering a distinct career slide, who takes on the younger Hanks as his assistant. But the diary dates couldn’t be worked out and everyone was sad.
Now, in a flash and a puff of smoke (we doubt it was that dramatic, but go with us here), John Malkovich has arrived to save the day. And everyone is happy. Writer-director Sean McGinly will call the shots in July.
