With shooting on Dwayne Johnson's latest film Rampage – a reunion with San Andreas director Brad Peyton and producer Beau Flynn – due to kick off next month, the film has been locking in its main cast. Malin Akerman is the final piece in the puzzle, entering talks to play the villain.
Rampage, which adapts the video game, sees a giant gorilla, crocodile and wolf created by a dastardly scientific lab team wreaking havoc across American cities. Johnson is playing an animal-loving hero who may be the only hope for saving the world, while Naomie Harris is on as a geneticist with a moral streak who decides to help.
Akerman is the less-than-ethical head of a biotech company that is responsible for the massive creatures. She'll join a cast that also already includes Joe Manganiello, Marley Shelton, Jake Lacy, P.J. Byrne, Jack Quaid, Matt Gerald and Breanne Hill.
Peyton will start the cameras rolling next month in Atlanta, and the film is looking to cause havoc in UK cinemas from 13 April next year.
In related Dwayne Johnson film news, he's revealed that another future project, action film Skyscraper (which sees him work again with Central Intelligence's Rawson Marshall Thurber) will also be arriving in 2018, planting a flag in a 13 July release for Stateside audiences.
