Malin Akerman Gets Wanderlust

We’ve got high hopes for Universal’s currently cooking comedy Wanderlust, mostly because it comes from comic gods Ken Marino and David Wain, who last worked on the much-better-than-anyone-thought-it-would-be Role Models. Now they’ve added **Watchmen’**s Malin Akerman to the cast.

Wanderlust finds a married couple (Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston) worried that their lives and in particular, their marriage, are getting stale. Their big plan to fix the situation is to ditch New York and rediscover themselves on a journey to find a new place to live.

So far, so standard Holly-comedy pitch, but in Wain and Marino’s hands, we’re convinced it’ll finish up being funny, with all sorts of crazy situations planned. Oh, and Judd Apatow is producing, if you need more convincing.

Akerman’s casting is not shocking: while she didn’t get the best chance to show off her comic chops in Couples Retreat, she’s been more than making up for it working with Wain and Marino on Rob Corddry’s US telly comedy Children’s Hospital.

The cast also includes the likes of Justin Theroux, Lauren Ambrose and Wain/Marino’s former State troupe member Joe Lo Truglio (who will also be seen alongside Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in next year’s Paul).
