Nicolas Cage's screen daughters aren't doing well lately. In Drive Angry one was brainwashed and murdered by a Satanic cult, and in Medallion another's kidnapped and locked in the trunk of the titular New York cab. The erstwhile Silk Spectre II is in talks to play Cage's former girlfriend (it's a Silk Spectre / Ghost Rider team-up: yay!), who we might possibly guess will be not-quite-so former by the end of the movie. Cage is playing a reformed "master thief", who clearly kept firmly within a criminal peer-group, since his ex is a retired bank robber. Akerman is young to be retired. Clearly crime pays.
Medallion, like Drive Angry, is a Millennium Films/Nu Image production, in this case directed by Simon West (The Mechanic, Tomb Raider, Con Air). David Guggenheim (Safe House) wrote the script, McG is among the producers, and shooting starts later this month in New Orleans.
