Malick Announces Two New Films

Long gone are the days when Terrence Malick fans would have to wait decades between films from the man who made Badlands and The Thin Red Line. He’s steadily increased his work rate and has now announced that he’ll shoot another two movies next year.

And in keeping with Malick tradition, he’s scored impressive casts for both of 'em. Lawless will feature Ryan Gosling, Cate Blanchett, Haley Bennett, Rooney Mara and Christian Bale, while Bale and Blanchett will return to star with Isabel Lucas for Knight Of Cup****s.

So what are they about? Silly rabbits – this is Malick! He has refused to release any official details about either movie. Still, The Playlist did some digging andfound out that the reason Bale and Malick were shooting at the Austin City Limits musical festival was part of the pre-production process on Lawless and that Bale told other performers that his character was “kind of an asshole.”

And if you were wondering why Bale had refused to commit to anything post-Dark Knight Rises… Now we know.

From the sounds of it, Lawless will shoot first, followed by Knight Of Cups, and the two films are separate despite sharing some cast members. And they’re in addition to Malick’s untitled romance pic, which features Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Javier Bardem and Rachel Weisz. The man’s unstoppable!
