If you've been debating your Halloween costume, worry no more, for Malekith has awoken and he has just the look you need: braided white ponytail, generously smeared facepaint and a pair of big ol' ears. Move over Hiddleston, Eccleston is here, and he's got an army of his own to carry out his nefarious deeds in Thor: The Dark World.

In the clip below you get to see him rising from his slumber, his metal-and-stone surroundings harkening at Giger's influence on Alien, with the runes a smidge on the **Predator **side of things. You also hear him speaking his Dark Elf tongue, which is definitely fileable under "bloody spooky", even if the subtitles do take the edge off a bit.

In the original comics, the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim strikes deals with Loki, dresses Loki up as himself, and uses magic like it's not really that big a deal. Whether that will all happen in the film itself remains to be seen, but you can bet your last drop of ambrosia - which is from Greek myth, sure, but roll with it - that he's going to be just as tricksy as that Loki bloke.

Christopher Eccleston's Malekith will arrive in UK cinemas on October 30, with American fans of Odin and co. having to wait until November 7 to get their **Thor: The Dark World **fix.
