Not content with being among the breakout stars of one of TV’s biggest hits as Arya Stark on Game Of Thrones, Maisie Williams has landed a role on another slightly popular series. That’s right, she’s the new host of Top Gear she’ll appear on Doctor Who.
“I'm so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British culture,” Williams said with trademark enthusiasm. “I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town.”
Doctor Who boss and spoilerphobic overlord Steven Moffat welcome the new arrival, while dropping only small hints about what we can expect. “We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.”
Doctor Who, which features Peter Capaldi as the current occupant of the TARDIS and Jenna Coleman as Clara, is shooting its ninth series now for broadcast later this year and has announced two new adventures set in the past: The Girl Who Died, written by Jamie Mathieson and Moffat, and The Woman Who Lived, penned by Catherine Tregenna. Among the other guest stars making stops on the show are Rufus Hound, Tom Stourton, Ariyon Bakare, Simon Lipkin, Ian Conningham, Murray McArthur, Barnaby Kay, John Voce and Struan Rodger. The Doctor will be back on our screens in the autumn.
