When it comes time to write another of those “The Most Troubled Productions In History” features, it looks like Mad Max: Fury Road will be one of the bigger entries. Because according to The Australian newspaper, another delay has hit the film, this time apparently shoving back early work until August or even November, with shooting unlikely before early 2012.
We say "apparently" because the most recent reports had more cast being added to the movie and pre-production underway with stunt scenes being prepared and some second unit sequences already in the can, according to the Playlist.
But if this latest, unexplained delay (current thinking pins it to the high Australian dollar) proves to be true, then it’s just the latest in a long line of issues that have struck Miller’s attempts to craft a new Max outing.
Earlier this year, shooting was held back thanks to rain in the Broken Hill area picked for the movie’s location, since looking fertile and green isn’t exactly in keeping with the post-apocalyptic visuals of Miller’s most famous creation.
So the director has a load of Aussie film talent and a group of actors – including Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, and Adelaide Clemens – figuring out other options while they wait to see whether Max actually rides again or whether Miller faces another cancelled project on the heels of Warner Bros.' Justice League film.
