She dealt with tech in the 1980s for TV's Halt And Catch Fire, and was in the compu-heavy Blade Runner 2049. Mackenzie Davis is still in a mechanical bent for another film: she's locking down a deal to join the cast of the new, James Cameron-produced Terminator.
Cameron has been developing this one, with Deadpool's Tim Miller directing and Billy Ray at work on the latest draft of the script that Cameron, Miller and Skydance boss Davis Ellison brainstormed.
No plot details have been revealed, though Cameron has previously said that it'll take up the story after Terminator 2 and effectively consign the rest of the following cyborg universe to some other corner of canon as he sets the universe back on his track. Arnold Schwarzenegger will return as some form of the title character, while Linda Hamilton is reprising her iconic role as Sarah Connor.
Davis' part has yet to be revealed, though Variety has learned that she'll be more in the cyborg vein, and that Cameron and co. are still looking for a young woman to be the main character going forward. The movie should be out in July next year. Davis will next be seen in Tully, which arrives on 20 April.
