The world is still waiting to discover if Joaquin Phoenix is A) serious about ditching the acting game and getting into rap B) out of his ever-loving mind or C) just having a bit of fun. Whatever you think, this trailer for the documentary chronicling his last couple of years, I**’m Still Here**… probably won’t help you decide much.

That’s largely because this promo is a collection of random snippets of Phoenix running through hotels, on stage, getting a new suit and, er, participating in what is either a night vision pillow fight or the weirdest sex tape ever, all with a weirdy beardy voice-over about the viewpoint of drops of water on a mountain and how it relates to fame.

Suffice to say… we’re still puzzled. But with his Andy Kaufman-level commitment to the scruffy character he’s playing, it really does feel like Phoenix is trying to make us hate him for the sake of performance.

The US will get to see the whole thing on September 10. We’ll have to wait until someone decides to pick the film up to distribute over here.
