Attempting to enter a n already crowded streaming service marketplace, Apple's Apple TV+ has an uphill struggle, especially since it initially appears to offer less in the way of catalogue shows and movies. It is instead pitching itself as high calibre and high concept, with big name people in front of and behind the camera. Case in point? M. Night Shyamalan, who has Servant ready to tease.
Servant is, you'll be shocked to hear, a psychological horror/thriller set in Philadelphia, with the basic story following a couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy. That trauma creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home. Lauren Ambrose and Toby Kebbell play Dorothy and Sean Turner, who hire a nanny (Nell Tiger Free's Leanne Grayson) to care for their newborn, Jericho. Which is when things take a creepy turn. But if we're honest, it's that child that gives us the creeps from the off...
Rupert Grint is also part of the show, which was created by Berlin Station veteran Tony Bagsgallop. It's not scheduled to be available when AppleTV+ launches on 1 November, but should be on the service shortly after.
